When one door closes, another one opens: Open up for spring

This spring, instead of sitting back and watching your flowers open up, try taking an active hop towards spring. Many people think that the only way to incorporate Spring into their life is by gardening or bringing fresh cut flowers inside. But I have a new and more permanent idea. Try painting your front door a bright and pleasant color- lemon yellow, robin’s egg blue, or sea foam green to name a few.

Your door is the last threshold you cross when you leave for work, and the first thing you open when you get home; it’s what the neighbors will notice when they are walking their dogs and what the mailman will be knocking on. It is the perfect place to put a gentle reminder of the nice weather that is on the way.

Now, how do we decide on a color? Well this is my task for you. Go outside for a walk, and look at all the flowers that the couple next door is planting, or the ones the Girl Scouts are adding to the local park. Pick your favorite one with the prettiest color. Bring it to your local Home Depot or Lowe’s, or other home goods store that carries your favorite brand of paint and have them match the color to the flower you picked.

Now, each day when you leave, or when someone else comes, there will be a gentle reminder of the beautiful weather that lies ahead. And if you really want to go nuts, why not paint a few windows? This is the perfect, simple & easy spring DIY that will leave you ready for spring.
