Looking to repaint an old piece of furniture but having
trouble deciding on what kind of paint you want to use? Why not try an
eco-friendly, acrylic free chalk-based paint. I have been working with it
lately to make handcrafted furniture and it’s amazing. The American Paint
Company ( americanpaintcompany.com ) paint is made purely of clay and chalk and
is a mineral based paint that does wonders on old wood furniture. No priming or
sanding necessary, just pick a color or a few colors and go for it. There is
endless possibilities while using this kind of paint, since it is chalk based,
it is easily rubbed off with water before the final wax coat is applied. This
leaves room for our unavoidable mistakes while trying to repaint those small
crevasses in the design of the old wood furniture piece. No one is perfect, that’s
why the ability to wash away mistakes with a damp paper towel is a plus!
These two pieces are works in progress that I’ve been
working on at my internship at B.Home. Both of these and many more can be seen and
purchased on the website.
So, once you finish painting all that’s left is to cover it with wax. I couldn’t believe what a forgiving process using the American Paint Company’s paint was. Also, this paint produces no fumes, so you can paint inside this Spring with all the rain thats ahead of us! Check out www.b-homedecor.com to see what you can do with this awesome product. You can purchase the paint from B.Home as well. I’ve just begun to learn the ins and outs of what this stuff can do but I’ll keep you updated with any discoveries I find! Enjoy!
