How to Make Your Bedroom an Oasis

Every since I was a little girl, my bedroom acted as my sanctuary. I would always go there for time away, whenever I needed space. Im not sure if it was due to habit but i'm still the same way today. I love my bedroom! Something about the art of crafting a perfect bedroom is always so much fun for me. I love being able to create a place that speaks to the inhibitor but also acts as their haven. When creating a bedroom there are a couple of important aspects to keep in check to make sure you are achieving the most relaxing experience for your self. 

Friday's Favorites: Super Cool Lighting

This week's favorites: Extremely cool lights. There is something about a light fixture that makes it a work of art in itself, and for that reason, this week's Friday's faves is some of the coolest light fixtures around. Take for instance Rough South Home. I just discovered this super awesome company and they are AMAZING! They make custom pieces as well as some really cool furniture out of pallets and other reusable materials. I suggest checking it out (number 4 below is one of there creations). As always, West Elm and Anthropologie are coming in clutch with the unique lighting. And Modoluce, another company I just came across has some of the most interesting light fixtures, unlike any I've seen before. I can easily see these guys making it into most of my future commercial projects.

It's easier than you think; you can go to your local Home Depot or Lowe's and pick up the basic hook up system for the light switch and light bulb, and from there you can make pretty much anything into a light! Lighting creates the overall mood of a room; it can help highlight specific details of a room like a bookcase, chair, or even a piece of art. The type of lighting you choose for a room can dramatically change the entire space for better or for worst. It’s important to understand the different characteristics of lighting and where to use them in your home.
